Terraces and Restaurants

Zandvoort has a pleasant center with an extensive terrace life. Most terraces are located on the Kerkplein in the center of the village, Gasthuisplein, Raadhuisplein and in the Haltestraat. But you can also sit in the sun at the beach pavilions and on the boulevard.

Beach pavilions

 

Zandvoort has a 9 kilometer long sandy beach. There are about 30 beach pavilions on the beach. Each pavilion has its own specialties and atmosphere. They are open from the end of February to the middle of November. They all have an excellent kitchen and a lovely outdoor terrace, where all drinks are served. Five pavilions even remain open all year round.

Zandvoorts Museum

 

During your stay in Zandvoort you cannot miss a visit to the Zandvoorts Museum. In addition to the beautiful works of art, the museum also gives a glimpse into the history of the village and shows the heritage of Zandvoort. About every two months there is a changing exhibition about new or old art in the two large halls.

The core collection of the Zandvoorts Museum hangs in the gray room. Here you can admire paintings that show what the village used to look like. You will see the boats of the fishermen on the beach and the Zandvoort fish walkers, who went to sell the fish on foot to Haarlem or Bloemendaal.

There is an authentic Zandvoort living room with a box bed to view. There is also a Water and Fire Shop, as they used to exist in the village. The inhabitants bought coal here early in the morning to light their fireplaces.

There is a room of wonder with more than 70 objects. There is also a section where the story of Simon Paap, the smallest person in the world, is told. For the children there is a special treasure hunt and the Kees de Muis house, a place where children can play and learn.

Shared scooters for rent

 

Not in a traffic jam, but nice with the wind in your hair on the scooter? In our village you can rent shared scooters at a few places. You can drive them from one parking space to another parking space. The places where they are located are the Stationsplein and various places on the boulevard. You just need to download the go sharing app from the app store or Google play and create an account. The app immediately shows the places where they are. Their website lists all the parking spaces and also where you can leave them. You can drive it to Haarlem or Amsterdam and park there. After your visit you can return in the same way. The costs are 0.30 per minute (0.75 start-up costs).

What to do on the track

 

The Circuit of Zandvoort is a historic and iconic circuit in the Netherlands, located on the North Sea in the beautiful dunes of Zandvoort. The circuit is best known for its challenging corners and fast sections, which require great technical skill from the drivers and provide a thrilling racing experience for the spectators. The circuit therefore attracts thousands of visitors every year.

 

The circuit is also known for its long history of hosting many national and international racing events, including the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, the Historic Grand Prix and many other races and events. The circuit has had many legendary moments, such as Max Verstappen’s spectacular overtakes during the Dutch Grand Prix in 2021.

But you can also race on the track yourself. Many sports cars are waiting for you, such as a Lamborghini, Ferraris, McLaren, Alpine, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche or Formula RP1. Surfing in Zandvoort

 

Zandvoort is a fantastic location for all kinds of water sports. The wave action is perfect for paddle boarding, windsurfing and kite surfing, but you can also enjoy excellent wave surfing. Surfing is a combination of adventure, adrenaline and relaxation. In addition, you can practice the sport in a beautiful natural environment. You can take lessons or improve your skills at various surf schools.

Zandvoort has been designated as a daredevil location. On the beach you can therefore, in addition to supping and wave surfing, also practice the more spectacular water sports such as kite surfing and windsurfing. Keep in mind that special zones have been created where these sports can be practiced. Beachgoers and swimmers can also enjoy the beach. In the summer months (from April 15 to October 1), water sports enthusiasts must stay within these ‘black’ zones. But if you are further than 150 meters from the coast, you can move freely over the water. The zones do not apply in the winter months either.

A new one will open at Noosa in Zandvoort aan Zee in 2022. For more than 15 years they have been giving surf lessons in Bloemendaal and on Vlieland. Now also in Zandvoort at beach bar Noosa.
